Position Summary:

This is a part-time, non-exempt position. Under direct supervision of the Director, the Front Desk Clerk is responsible for a variety of tasks within the recreation office, including, but not limited to, assisting with the public, taking registrations, answering the phone, and assisting SHRC staff with necessary items. 

Salary Range: $13-15/hour

Essential Functions:

  • Greeting and welcoming guests and directing visitors to the appropriate person and office. 
  • Receiving and delivering incoming and outgoing mail and packages. 
  • Answering, screening, and forwarding incoming phone calls.
  • Assisting citizens with registration for available classes and activities. 
  • Providing basic and accurate information in-person and via telephone/email. 
  • Performing duties such as filing, photocopying, and scanning. 
  • Supporting role for SHRC staff and programs.
  • Other duties as deemed necessary or assigned. 

Position Requirements

Education and Experience: Minimum of high school diploma is required. Previous customer service experience preferred. Hands-on experience with office equipment preferred. 

Skills: Must be able to communicate thought and objectives in written and verbal form. Needs to be able to collaborate with peers in a group setting, maintain confidential information, and have the ability to work independently and with a team. Must have strong customer service skills and the ability to interact with members of the public, as well as build strong relationships with individuals and organizations in the Spring Hill community. Needs to have a working knowledge of Microsoft office programs. Other web-based recreation management software and Adobe knowledge is preferred. Candidate needs to be motivated, trainable, adaptable, and possess effective time and schedule management skills. 

Special Requirements: Valid driver's license.  

Working Conditions: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in an indoor environment. Occasional exposure to machinery and noise. Exposure to program materials and equipment such as, but not limited to, sports equipment, maintenance equipment, cleaning supplies, cooking and art supplies, etc.  

Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to operate, finger, handle, or feel objects or tools; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend. Manual labor, including lifting and carrying heavy objects as heavy as 25 pounds will be required from time to time.
